Community Engagement at Hafren
Weekly Workshops and Classes

Hafren uses the power of the arts to enrich people's lives, making connections to give people an opportunity to discover more about the arts and their own creativity. Engagement work in our local communities has developed at a rapid rate and Hafren now houses an ever growing amount of participation and community led activities that both challenge and inspire.

Update // Community Art Classes start back at Hafren

Free Art Classes for Seniors - The Hafren every Wednesday from 11 - 1pm

We have now restarted our Wednesday Art Class sessions under the guidance of Machynlleth-based artist Zoe Mach; they are now being held physically and safely again at the Theatre. Due to Covid restrictions we are limited to numbers attending so if you are interested in joining the class please email in the first instance.

'The class was great' said Zoe.... 'it felt really safe and was so lovely to see people again!'

As the class have all isolated for so long they started with some immersion activities to reintegrate themselves back as social beings and started with some ambidextrous shape drawing to engage both sides of the brain. The second half of the session was a covid-inspired activity using hand sanitizer, sanitizing spray, wipes and cotton buds to manipulate vividly coloured inks, creating bright abstracts.

Theatre Manager Sara Clutton commented…
"What a delight to see participants back in our Gallery space and engaging face to face. Whilst we're not able to reopen our auditorium for performances, we are carrying on with both online and face to face in a blended form of delivery. Some of our participants do not have access to, or if living with Dementia, struggle to utilise technology, so being able to welcome them back into a safe environment is a refreshing change for us." June 2021

Why not Come and join Zoe at The Hafren each Wednesday from 11 – 1pm for some art and a chat. It's completely free! Whether you love being creative or haven't tried your hand since school, there is always something new to learn or be inspired by and have fun with.

If you can't make it in person then don't worry as our FREE, LIVE online sessions will continue every Wednesday at 5pm. Further details are available here.
